World of My Artist

My artist was an Abstract artist, which is when the artist uses a visual language of shape, form, color and line to create a composition that is not easily recognized.

Piet Mondrian was born 24 years after Van Gogh died, but Piet liked his artwork. His father and uncle also influenced him, because they were artists who taught him how to paint.

World War I was happening when Piet was visiting his home in the Netherlands.

Some of Piet’s artwork was put into the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. Also, while he was stuck in the Netherlands during World War I, he started De Stijl (the style), a movement of Dutch artists that were devoted to the Abstract movement.
