piano

Pianos are made from many diferent materials, but here are the 3 materials that are used the most in a piano. Thease things are the strings, the sound bord, and the frame. the frame is made of cast iorn, the sound bord is made of spruce wood, and the strings are made of steel wound in copper.

Piano

The fist part of the piano is the cast iorn frame. the metal that it is made out of consists of iron, carbon, and silicon. In early pianos the frame was made of wood but in would warp and splinter under the tension of the strings. the cast iorn can withstand a tension of up to 70,000 lbs. Because of this we now make the frame of the piano out of iorn insted of wood.

the second part of the piano is the piano is the sound bord. A piano's sound bord is made of spruce wood. Because of the extreme complexity of wood I fond the chemical compond of cellulose a part of wood. C6H7O(OH)3. Spruce wood is used because of its resistance to splintering. unlike other woods Spruce wood will not spinter under the extereme tension of the strings.

What are

The final part of the piano is the strings. The strings of a piano are made of steel wound in copper. The strings are wound in copper to increase how low the note is quicker than if the strings were made of only steel. if the strings were made of only steel then the lowest string would be over 30 ft. long. copper is used over any othe metal becaus it will not noticeably change how stiff the string is.
