Definition- "Phobia" refers to a group of anxiety symptoms brought on by certain objects or situations. Most commonly an irrtational amount of fear towards a non-threatening action or object.Prevelance- National Insititute of Mental Health estimates 5-12% of Americans have phobias and they usual appear adolesence and adulthood. Much more common in women.

Effective Therapies:-Antidepressants-Sedatives-Beta Blockers (lower adernaline)-DesensitizationFamilial Pattern:Some say that phobia disorder is linked through heredity, but not enough medical research has been done to determine this.

Symptoms:- Irrational fear of a situation or object-Avoiding the situation or object entirely or with great distress-Physical Responses include panic attacks resulting in nausea, diarrhea, sweating, and trembling-Anticipatory anxiety which refers to getting nervous before approaching the object or situation
