Pheme-Goddess of Gossip and Rumor(Fama)
ParentsPheme is the daughter of Gaia (goddess of Earth)and Oranos (god of Heaven).
8MythAccording to Greek mythology, former princess of Tyre, Dido, was the founder and queen of Carthage. Aeneas came, while fleeing from Troy after the Trojan War, and they fell in love. Pheme quickly spread the news that Aeneas and Dido were together and spent their time in love and in leisure until it reached Zeus (Pheme is often called Zeus's messenger). Zeus told Aeneas about Rome while Aeneas was sleeping. Aeneas realized he had to leave Dido to found Rome, as he had to obey Zeus. Pheme told everyone that Aeneas was leaving. Dido committed suicide, but before she did, she prayed to Hera, protector of Carthage, to let Aeneas build his city, but later to send a general to wreak havoc in Rome. This was Hannibal, who ravaged Rome for 10 years.
