The phases of the moon include
The Phases of the Moon
Full Moon
Waxing Crescent
New Moon
Many people call this a half moon. However, as it may appeaer this way it is only 1/4 of the way around its orbit.
A new moon is invisible here on Earth. There is no reflected sunlight that makes its 'face' visible
First Quarter
During A full moon we see the entire face of the moon lit up high in the sky!
Waxing Gibbous
A waxing Gibbous appears more than half-lighted, but less than full.
This moon phase is seen one day to several days after new moon
What is a Moon?A moon is earth's natural satellite which shines by the sun's reflected lightWhat is a Phase of the Moon?Phases of the Moon depend on its position in relation to the Sun and Earth. As the Moon rotates around the Earth, you see the “bright parts” of the Moon's surface at different angle
Waning Gibbous
Waning Crescent
Last Quarter
The moon is past full now. Once again, it appears more than half lighted but less than full .
Last quarter moon comes approximately three weeks after new moon. The moon is now three-quarters of the way around in its orbit of Earth
This is the last phases of the moons revolution around the Earth. It appears less than half lit.
The moon now repats this rotation. It takes approxamately 27-28 days to revolve around the Earth.
