Personification Poem Assignment

For your personification poem you must choose an inanimate (nonliving) object to write your poem about. Think of things that you could do if you were that object (see the example below). Make a list of all the things you could do. Choose the best ones and use those ideas to create your poem. Shape those ideas into a poem about that inanimate object. Try to use really descriptive language that appeals to the reader's senses. You can even use sound effects (assonance, consonance, alliteration and onomatopoeia) to help your reader relate to your ideas better.Pay attention to where you choose to make your line breaks to help your reader make sense of your poem or to highlight phrases/words that you want noticed.Place your poem in the middle of the page, give your poem a title, and then decorate it to reflect the subject/theme of the poem.**Grading is based upon: proper use of personfication, thoughtful choice and placement of words, and decorating.
