Persephone:Queen of the underworld, Goddess of spring

Persephone was the daughter of Demeter; Goddess of agriculture and grain- (shown right)

One day, while playing in a field, she was kidnapped by Hades (God of the underworld) and taken away to be his bride. Demeter panicked and stopped all plant life, resulting in the first Winter.

She was eventually found and set free, but not before she had eaten six pomegranate seeds- consuming food of the Underworld bound her to return.

Every six months Persephone returns to the underworld- Demeter, distraught, halts all plant growth until her return. Persephone's arrival to the surface brings new life- spring and summer.

Recap: Associated with Demeter and Hades. Young goddess of spring and unwilling queen of the underworld.
