Scalar Multiplication of Matrices

Scalar multiplication is much like using the distributive property. The number on the outside of the matrix (in this case, 2) is called a scalar. You take the scalar and multiply each number in the matrix by that number. The graphic below and the video to the right demonstate how to excute this operation.

When adding or subtracting matrices, you want to match up pairs of numbers. For example, in the graphic below, 1 and 6 would be added together, -7 and 0, 3 and -3, 0 and 5, 4 and 11, and 5 and -4. Your answer would be [7 0 15][-7 5 1]
