Alessandro Volta was born in Como, Italy in 1745. In 1774, Volta was appointed professor of physics in Como at the Royal School, and professor of physics at university of Pavia, in 1779. Volta invented The Battery or Voltaic Pile in 1800. It consists of zinc, copper, and cardboard with brine on it. The purpose of the invention was to carry electricity. This invention affected America because now we have the abilityto listen to the radio or to power our electronics.
