Pearl Harbor--WWII On December 7, 1941 at 7:51am the Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbor, the American Naval base, which is by Honolulu Hawaii. The entire attack lasted about two hours. The Japanese demolished about 20 American navel vessels, and 200 airplanes. More than 3,000 were people were in the attack, while 2,000 of them were killed. They dropped a second bomb at 8:55am and just an hour later it was over. The Japanese intended to destroy the Pacific Fleet so the U.S. couldn't fight back but they failed to do so. They day after the attack the congress approved President Franklin D. Roosevelt's request to declare war on Japan. Japan's allies also desclared war on the U.S. just 3 days later. After 2 years into the conflict, America eventually joined World War II.
