September 1940 , The United States cuts Japans assets of oil, steel, scarp iron, and aviation fuel.

April,1941Japan signed a treaty with the Soviet Union to prevent a attack from that direction in case they were to fight Britian, or the U.S. while Japan took more land out of Southeast Asia.

Dec.7nth 1941,Japan attacked Hawaii, killing or wounded 1,177 men.Sinking or damaging about 18 ships total. The attack Was on Dec. 7th 1941 8 a.m. local time.

Prior to December 1941, Japan pursued two simultaneous courses: try to get the oil embargo lifted on terms that would still let them take the territory they wanted, and ... to prepare for war. General Tojo Hideki seceretly set Nov. 29th the last day Japan would accept a settlement without war. The Japanese military was asked to devise a war plan, so the would take station into Burma, Malaya, the East Indies, and the Philippines to set a defensive perimeter in the Pacific Central and Southwest Pacific. Yet Japan was worried about The U.S. fleet docked in Pearl Harbor. So The Japanese made a plan to take out the fleet with a surprise attack.

The U.S. wanted to stop Japan from spreading it's nation.With out resources Japans Army and Navy would fall, yet the Soviet Union was on the brink of Defeat by the Axis powers. Japan used this opportunity to take oil and resources.
