Pearl Harbor
The House voted 388 to 1 to declare war on Japan. Germany, Japan, and Italy declared war on the United States.
Japanese bombers torpedeod moored ships, while fighters and dive bombers machine-gunned and bombed ship decks and air fields
December 7,1941 Japan surprise attacked Pearl Harbor. The bombing lasted hours and started just before 8 a.m.
The Forces Tojo sent from Japan included 6 airplanes, an assortment of battleships and cruisers, and a number of submarines
After the attack, a spirit of patriotism swept across the U.S. Americans searched for ways to help the war effort. They volunteered with the Red Cross, joined the military, and moved into new jobs to help.
Three battle ships suffered irreparable damage- USS Arizona, USS Oklahoma, and USS Utah
The USS Arizona sank during this attack,1200 marines and sailors died on this ship alone.8 battle ships were badly damaged,160 aircrafts destroyed,128 damaged.2500 people including civilans and military personnel had died.

This video explains what happened the day of the attack and the measures taken to fight back.
I picked Pearl Harbor because I knew nothing about it and wanted to learn more. I learned that even though the U.S. lost many people they can still come back and fight strongly for those who lost their lives. I hope that people will learn that Pearl Harbor was an awful time but the U.S. fought their way to victory.
