Patricia Polacco

•She was born in Lansing, MI in 1944.•She lived on a farm in Union City, MI with her grandparents until 1945, when her Babushka died. •Both of her divorced parents lived with their parents when she was a kid, so she spent a lot of time with her grandparents.•She also spent 37 years in Oakland, CA.•She didn’t start writing until she was 41 years old.•She has two kids and lots of animals at her farm in Union City, MI. •She named the farm Meteor Ridge Farm because of the meteor that landed in her front yard growing up.

•She didn’t learn to read until she was 14.•She was later diagnosed with dyslexia.•She restored ancient pieces of art for museums before she started writing.•She travels 7 months out of the year to schools and conferences all around the country.•The meteor that landed in her front yard growing up (and that inspired a book) is now her family's headstone in the village cemetery. •On her website, you can choose a book and send an email post-card to someone with that book cover on the front.•You can follow her on Facebook for more updates!
