Patricia's medical discovery was patented in 1988.

She was named the "Howard University Pioneer in Academic Medicine" in 1993 for her amazing work.

Patricia Bath was the first African-American woman to be recognized for her medical discoveries, which helped blind people see! She is a true pioneer!

Patricia was born in New York, New York on November 4, 1942. She is still alive today!She was the first female African-American doctor to receive a medical patent for her discovery.She graduated from high school in just two years!
