[2015] Kylie Birchfield: Paper Towns

Paper Towns By: John Green

Summary; Highschool senior Quentin Jacobsen (known to his friends as "Q") has been in love with the mysterious, beautiful, and adventuresome neighbor Margo Roth Spiegelman for as long as he can remember. So when one late school night she appears at his window to ask for his help in playing revenge pranks, he can't refuse. The two travel through the whole night to put a little Margo style revenge at Margo's ex-best friend's house ,along with her now exboyfriend's house, the house of an old bully, and even break into Sea World. At the end of the amazing, crazy, long night, Margo leaves Q with a hug and says "I will miss hanging out with you". The next day at school, Q is hardly surprised that Margo isn't there because they didn't get back until almost dawn . But when no one sees her for days, Q and his friends Radar and Ben begin searching for the clues Margo had apparently left behind for Q, including a poster on her window, parts of a poem, and an abandoned journal where she wrote stories from her childhood and explored, with the help of Margo's best friend, Lacey. Based on the clues Margo left behind, Q, Radar, Ben, and Lacey believe that Margo has killed herself. Untill they figure out another revealing clue. The four friends skip graduation and drive for hours to where they believe from the clues that She might be in upstate New York ,and seek to find her Before she leaves . The closer that Q gets to finding the adventourous, love of his life, Margo Roth Spiegelman , the less he actually knows about her.

what I liked

One of the main themes in Paper Towns is chasing after what you want in life , no matter what is left behind. This theme is shown through many of the characters . Margo expresses this theme as she doesn't care if she has to leave everything behind, she knows that she doesnt want to be stuck in the same place for the rest of her life and do the same things and see the same people.

I like how John Green expresses that people are not made of paper That we have dimensions , and even though Q seems to see Margo as his wonderful, and perfect next door neighbor, he soon learns that she's realer then that. John Green just expresses that our view or idea of a person will never be enogh to show who a person really is. because humans are complex things.
