Treatment and Management There are certain lifestyle changes and treatments which can delay or reduce symptoms of OA. These include:-Exercise to increase flexibility of the joint and muscle strengthening-Heat/Cold therapy can provide temporary relief from pain-Pain medications, such as NSAIDs or corticosteroids -Joint protection (i.e. knee braces)-Weight loss or maintenance to prevent stress on weight bearing joints -Surgery if pain is chronic or joints are damaged (Wilson, 2013)

Preventative Strategies: Weight Management!Excess body weight = increased force in the joints. Obesity is a major risk factor for knee OA.
