Similar organisms were found during the ordovician period.
There was earths first coral reefs during this period, and invertibrates dominated this time period.
The Ordivician Period began about 505 million years ago and ended about 438 million years ago. It lasted about 67 million years ago.
There were rocks formed during the Ordovician period. You would find them everywere exept down the Hudson river. The Appalation moutain range is made up of rocks that were from this period and the Cambrian period.
There were fish and coral like creatures during this period. There was also an abundance of invertibratal orginisms. They all look quite similar to todays organisms. Most of the organisms during this time period live in the water.
New york was a little cooler than it is in the 21 century. By now the andorondak mountain range is just begining to form.
During this period there was a massive metior that destroyed over 60% of all marine organisms.
