BiographyOprah Winfrey was born on January 29,1954. She was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Oprah by no means had an easy life. Her mother sent her father's in Nashville, Tennesse. Her mother sent Oprah to her father's because she got frustrated with Oprah. Oprah got pregnant when she was 13 years old. She then lost the child shortly after birth.Whilst she was at her father's house she was sexually abused by her relatives. When she went to East Nashville High School her popularity rose. She won Miss Black Tennesse Beauty Pagent. That's how she also got her job as a news anchor. After being an News Anchor she went to being a host of a television show. After 8 years of hosting a scouter saw her talent, and they offered her her own TV show. This would become well known as the Oprah Winfrey show. The Oprah Winfrey would go on for 20 plus years. This would maker her millions and billions, along with her magazine. Her magazine is called O (Oprah) Magazine. She currently has a partner named Stedman Graham and is no longer doing her TV show. Instead she is continuing to influence the World.

This is Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah's PhilosophyOprah wants nothing but peace for everyone. She urges people to take control and be responsible for their own life. She wants every person to shoot for their dreams, and as she has become very wealthy she has helped many people accomplish them. Oprah has become very popular and most of America adores her. For many years she has been voted Times Magazine most influential person. Through her talk shows she would give people advice and ideas on way to achieve their goals and dreams. She came very popular to the public because they could relate, and it wasn't about your typical talk show topics.

Criticism Sadly, people still judge others depending on their race. Oprah is critiqued by some because of that. They pick on her weight, the way she talks, and accuse her of being "fake" just to get money. They also state that she is changing the views of children for the worse because she is a wealthy African American. Really, there is nothing bad about Oprah. It's sad that some of America belittles people for their race. When really they are just jealous of what they can't have.

A typical O Magazine will look like this with advice and tips for everyday life.

Lasting ImpactOprah hasn't only had a magazine and TV show, she has other things that influence people. She has started her own network called the Oprah WInfrey Network (OWN). She has created many charities, such as, O Ambassador, Leadership Acedemy for Girls, Oprah's Angel Netwrok, and many more. She has aslo personally helped many through life with money from her own pocket. Along with her charities and TV network she has also inspired many to change or even redeem their life. She has enlightened the past, present, and I have no doubt she won't enlighten the future.

Compare and ContrastJohn Locke and Oprah Winfrey are both very similar and very different. They are both enlightenment thinkers in which have cared for the rights of others and have inspire people. John Locke inspired many through his main philosophy which was in the Declaration of Independence and gave us our freedom. Oprah has also touched a huge amount of people through her TV show, magazine, and charity work. They both sought out to better other people's lives before themselves. They were both different by the type of people they were involved with. John Locke had more to do with the government and the political views of America. Where Oprah has more to do with individual people and the social aspect of America. Both have bettered America by having philosophies that inspire and benefit our country.
