Writing

We will continue to learn about place-value, number patterns, estimation, and rounding. We will be working in Chapter 2...Learning about Addition Properties and Relationship between Addition and Subtraction. Please have your child continue to practice math facts (addition and subtraction). Mad Minutes are on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the Fast Fact Challenge is every Friday. We solved our first Open Ended Problem. Open Ended Problems will be completed every Friday. They are scored based on the rubric that was attached to the first one sent home. So keep the rubric in a safe place!

Our Writers' Notebooks turned out BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for all your support with this project. They will cherish their notebooks forever. We have created lists to help "spark" our ideas for writing. Some of our lists are titled: People to Write About Places to Write About Surroundings to Spark an ideaWriter's Notebooks will come home once a week with a homework assignment. We will learn to take a "watermelon" writing and nurture a "seed" from it! Then we will choose a "seed" for our first personal narrative.

Week of Respect

October 3rd begins a "Week of Respect." The students will learn the importance of treating everyone with respect. Some activities we will be doing...reading books, having discussions, and wearing something special to school each day.We will end the week by solving "respect" problems using the information learned all week!
