Nikola Tesla gained experience in the fields of electrical engineering and telephony and then emigrated to the US to work for Thomas Edison. After receieving financial backing, he went on to develop many electrical devices of his own.He is known for inventing the Tesla Coil (still used in radio, television and other electronic equipment), the Tesla induction Motor, fluorescent lighting and developing the alternating (AC) current system, as well as being credited with the invention of modern radio.

Education: Realschule, Karlstadt in 1873, the Polytechnic Institute in Graz, Austria and the University of Prague.

Born: July 10th, 1856 in Smiljan, Lika, Region of CroatiaDeath: January 7th, 1943.

Nikola Tesla claimed to have invented an electrical generator that did not consume any fuel. However, this invention has been lost to the public.He also claimed to have built a weapon capable of sending beams of particles through air with enough energy to bring down a fleet of 10,000 enemy planes.He made a lot of money off his devices, but also spent a lot on new experiments which eventually led him to bankruptcy.
