The Night Witches

The Night Witches ( 46th "Taman" Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment) were one of the first groups of female pilots during WWII. The term Night Wiches is not their real name but this how they were referred to by German soldiers. They started their raids in June of 1942 and continued their raids throughout the duration of the war. This group of courageous Russian women had one of the the biggest female influences in the war.

These women and girls were from ages varied from 17-26.

This was the type of plane that was flown by the Night Witches.

These courageous women made a total of 852 flights during the duration of the war. The struck fear into German soldiers and were a tremendous impact to the war effort. These women should never be forgotten.
