Lanesha is a twelve year old girl who lies in a neighborhood called Ninth Ward in New Orleans. Lanesha lives with her Mama-Yaya. They may not have a lot of money, but they have each other. Lanesha is a smart and loving girl. Mama-Yaya has a vision that a strong storm is coming. Mama-Yaya is known for her clear visions, people trust her. When Mama-Yaya told Lanesha about the storm, Lanesha was worried. Ninth Ward is a story about Lanesha and Mama-Yaya's experience before and during the hurricane.
