Niccolo Machiavelli

- Italian thinker, playwright, historian, philosopher, writer, politician, military leader- The author of the military-theoretical works.- He was born in the village of San Casciano, near Florence, into the family of Bernardo di Nicolo Machiavelli (the lawyer), and Bartolomea di Stefano Nelli. - He had two older sisters - Primavera, Margaret, and a younger brother Totto.- Although his parents belonged to an ancient Tuscan family, they were people of a very modest incomes. - He had not attended university and he studied at home. - He started learning latin at the age of seven.- From a young age he had a strong interest in politics.

-In "Discourse on the first decade of Titus Livius" emphasizes that the ideal form of government is a Republic and the Monarchy is a convenient compromise that allows to come to the tyranny, the weakening of the state, to poverty and decline.-He was the first European thinker who attempted to link the processes taking place in society and its political system.- For the first time argues that all social processes are based on the pursuit of profit, and the only method of achieving this goal is power.- According to his political views, the ideal state, almost inevitably linked with deprivation of the political rights of any social group.
