Igualdad (Flag a)

Nicaraguan Flag Meaning: The colors of the Nicaraguan flag originate from the flag of the former federation of the United Provinces of Central America. The two blue stripes represented the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea; while white symbolizes peace. A modern interpretation indicates that the color blue symbolizes justice and loyalty; while the color white represents virtue and purity. The coat of arms features an equilateral triangle which represents equality. Inside the triangle are five volcanoes, which represent the five members of the federation. The triangle also contains symbols of liberty and peace - represented by a red Phrygian cap, white rays and rainbow.

Interesante(Culture a)

CultureThe vast variety of Nicaraguan traditional music as well as the big number of singers is certainly remarkable. “Los Hermanos Mejia Godoy y Los de Palacaguina” is the most well known music group in Nicaragua and their fame has reached beyond the borders.-A very representative dance of the Nicaraguan pacific is “Las Inditas”, on which young beautiful women, dressed in long embroidered white dresses and red ribbons, dance at the rhythm of marimba music. They hold on their heads fruit baskets representing the hard working women of Nicaragua.-Musical instruments include the marimba and others common across Central America. The marimba of Nicaragua is uniquely played by a sitting performer holding the instrument on his knees. He is usually accompanied by a bass fiddle, guitar and guitarrilla (a small guitar like a mandolin).

FoodGallo Pinto: most people in Nicaragua eat this almost daily and it is considered a national symbol. It is composed of a mixture of fried rice with onion and sweet pepper, red beans boiled with garlic. They are mixed and fried all together.Gallo PintoCosta Rica Nicaragua Grains Beans Rice Vegetarian(Costa Rican, Nicaraguan red beans and rice)If there is one meal that everyone in Nicaragua and Costa Rica eats, it's gallo pinto. This hearty, healthy and filling dish is your basic rice and beans. The beans in this case are red, and the color of the beans on the rice gives gallo pinto, or "painted rooster," its name. Costa Ricans especially are fond of serving gallo pinto with scrambled eggs for breakfast. I would like to try this recipe, because I like beans, rice, onions, and peppers, so I think it would be delicious.
