Newton's Laws

Newton's First LawNewton's first law says an object at rest tends to stay at rest, an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted on by an outside force. So, if you are doing a cartwheel it is harder to get started. Then, once you are going it is easier. (You are staying in motion.) Once your foot hits the floor, you are stopped. (You were acted on by an outside force.)

Newton's Second LawNewton's second law says applying a force to a mass will cause it to accelerate. So, when I am ice skating and I push on the ice harder I will accelerate.

Newton's Third LawNewton's third laws says for every force there is an equal and opposite force. So, if I run into a wall, I bounce off. This happens because the wall and I both put an equal amount of force on each other. I bounce off because I have a smaller mass then the wall.

The rocket launching off demonstrates Newton's third law because the rocket is pushing on the ground and the ground is pushing on the rocket.
