Newton's First Law

IN OTHER WORDS...A toy car that is sitting on a sidewalk will never, ever move unless someone pushes it to start motion. Then the toy car will never, ever stop moving until a force stops it.

An object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will remain in motion UNLESS acted upon by an unbalanced force.

Law of InertiaNewton's First Law is sometimes called the Law of Inertia. Inertia is an object's tendency to resist changes in motion. When a car breaks quickly, the passenger is sometimes thrown forward in his seat because his inertia is trying to keep him going forward.

Newton's Second Law F= MxAIN OTHER WORDS...To make an object accelerate, or move, you have to apply a force. The greater the mass of the object, the more force needed to make it accelerate. For this reason, a 50 kg rock is much harder to move than a 5 g rock.

Newton's Third Law For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.IN OTHER WORDS...Two children on skateboards are standing side by side. The action takes place when one child pushes the other. The reaction is when both skateboards roll in opposite directions.
