In the article “‘Only God’ Can Stop Gay Marriage,” the worldly situations that are addressed involve the discussions over gay marriage: whether it should be accepted or remain illegal. Many states in the US have already joined the march to accept the lgbt (lesbian-gay-bisexual-transexual) community, however the controversial argument is still upon us despite the dwindling support of the anti-lgbt side. This widely discussed topic is brought up throughout the world in many different areas besides just the courthouse and articles such as these, this controversial matter can be seen taken at hand in tv, movies, social media, the news, music and churches. The state of Florida recently announced their conversion to one of the lgbt supporting states, now allowing gay marriage. As these anti-lgbt seem to only have religion as their witness and supporter to hold onto, 2015 and the future beyond that is not in their favor. This debate, and furthermore support, can be seen in tv, with shows hosted by individuals who are actual members of the lgbt community and illustrate live examples to fight for the right of equality in marriage. For instance, the Ellen Show is hosted by Ellen Degeneres who demonstrates her beliefs that everyone should be true to who they are and teaches that the youth of the world should “be more compassionate.” Examples such as this can be seen throughout the media. A large benefactor that changed the playing field for the views towards the lgbt community was a recent song produced and recorded called “Same Love,” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. This song not only created a crying anthem for the justice of gay individuals, but also allowed a large stand for the rights of the gay community. Macklemore’s straightforward message of hope and progress hits the mark during a pivotal point of cultural shift on the issue. In that way, “Same Love” is both a call to action and a signal that the light at the end of the tunnel grows brighter each day. The song has not only changed the opinions and views of the lgbt community but has also created a reminder that hip-hop can be an effective tool in advocating social transformation.Similar to the article, Macklemore addresses the controversy of religion against gay freedom, interrogating and criticizing the beliefs against gay marriage due to religion, stating that the words “‘God loves all his children’ is somehow forgotten. But [they] paraphrase a book written thirty-five-hundred years ago.” This has spoken out to many and has caused seconds thoughts about the truth of what may be considered true and false in religion, pointing out the flaws and holes to the anti-gay belief. This entire topic has a great relation to my life in a sense that I am a witness to this controversy everyday. I, being apart of a strongly religious family, am Catholic and always consider my thoughts and beliefs towards the matter and whether my religion should affect my opinions, beliefs, and ultimately affect where I should stand in society.

Dear Diary,I was really sad when I got my special custom made wheelchair taken away by someone last week. It was really discouraging to know that someone would do that. But I was really happy when a wheelchair company told me and my family that they were going to make me another one for FREE! This made my parents especially happy because they said the first one was thousands of dollars and I don't know what I would do without a wheelchair. The company even told me they would make it just like the first one because it was specially designed just for me. The most exciting part when they told me Santa would deliver it directly to me for Christmas! I can't wait to see my new wheelchair under the Christmas tree! It will be extremely hard to go the next two weeks without my wheelchair, and with Christmas so far away, but I have done it before so I know I can do it now.I am very grateful for companies like this and these people that do such good deeds for my parents and me so that they can help us out. With the help of these companies I'm sure that many other kids will be able to get new wheelchairs and other special robot parts too to help them function with ease daily like I can. I owe a lot to this company for doing something so generous. I hope that Santa sees how nice they are and gets them something just as amazing. These people and this whole company truly shows others what the Christmas spirit is all about and others should look to them as role models. I hope that all companies that do these types of things are rewarded for spreading their generosity to people like me and my family.

The article, “Proofreading the Founding Fathers,” talks about the misconception that after the line “Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness” there is a period. It continues to talk about how this would change our perception of the government and if this is even an issue. This article can compare to the 2007 movie, “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” in which Benjamin Gates must follow a clue left in John Wilkes Booth's diary to prove his ancestor's innocence in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln (IMDb summary). The movie being much more suspenseful about solving a mystery, compared to this article, tackles the discovering of a possibly mistaken piece of historical evidence of a very important event. In a similar way, the article discusses a mistake in the famous Constitution however is a mistake in grammar, and not in the actual fabric of time. This incident does not have an obvious correlation to my life, however the mistake that occurred in the Constitution is one that is relevant frequently in my daily life, just with a much less significance to my life, as the grammar mistake would with the United States. The main purpose of this article is to examine the issue of the grammar error in the Constitution and determine whether it would have an impact on how we interpret the Constitution. The author explains how significant the difference would be if the Constitution had a period versus a comma and informs his readers so that they can also come to a conclusion about what they think and how they believe it would interfere with the interpretation of the sentence.

'Should teens read the news?'Newspaper ProjectAithy Nguyen

January 14, 2015The New York Times Upfront 2931 East McCarty Street, Jefferson City, MO 65102Dear Editor:I am writing in response to your article, "The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History." I found the article to be very informative on our societies' current issues along with the issues we have been facing for decades, centuries, and even millenniums. Although your article addresses our preparation for the worst to come, I found that in our current state in accordance with global issues, we have much more information and potential on fixing our worldly problems and now having read your article, I think we as a human race can make a change that will be as impactful to the future of the world as a sixth mass extinction would be. I know as humans this change for the environment, as well as for the rest of the animal species that outnumbers us, will be incredibly near impossible, however, your article has shown the possibilities of what might occur unless something is done now, therefore I commend you for making the well overdue efforts in order to demonstrate to the world just how impactful our irresponsible human activity can easily be. "This time, a giant asteroid isn't to blame. We are, most scientists agree." This right here, says it all. We are to blame for this imminent extinction and we are the ones that need to do something about it, and soon. Thank you for sharing this subject and this warning, I thought the piece was incredibly eye opening towards the world's ongoing errors and how we must do something before it's too late. Sincerely,Aithy Nguyen

It is crucial that teens read the news, even in today's society where technology has become the dominating source of everything. Without being imformed with the surrounding world, people would become ignorant to society and the global problems.
