When there is Tension in Earth's crust, it cause the rocks to pull aprt causing a normal fault. The rocks look as if they are at an angle, one block is stacked on top of the other rock. The rock on top gets called the hanging wall, the rock on bottom is called the footwall.
Is a type of stress that will push mass rock into two oppposite directions. This stress on the Earth can also cause some rock to break and slip apart or it could change its shape.
Another type of stess that accures on Earth's crust is compression. Compression will squeeze the rocks until it strts to fold or it breaks. If a plate was to push against another plate, it can compress thr rocks like if it were a giant trash compactor.

Tension is a type of stress that happens on the Earth's crust. IT pulls on the crust and stretches out the rock to make it thinner in the middle
Compression
When the plated move past eah other, the stress shearing, starts to create strike-slip faults. In this fault, the rocks on either side of the fault will slip past each other, with just a little bit of an up and down motion.

Types of faults in Earths Crust
When the rock from the crust gets pushed together, compression will start to cause reverse faults to form. This type of fault has the same struture as a normal fault, however the blocks move in different directions.
