Solar and Lunar Eclipse

Due to this project we now have a better understanding on what constellations are and how everything in universe is related / connected or derived; the moon from earth, earth from sun, sun from galaxy, galaxy from universe, and so on. An example is that when an eclipse happens everything in the universe alligns, including constellations. Our modern constellation system comes to us from the ancient Greeks. The oldest description of the constellations as we know them comes from a poem, called Phaenomena, written about 270 B.C. by the Greek poet Aratus.Bibliography:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constellation,http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/

Solar eclipses can only occur during the new Moon, when the Moon moves between Earth and Sun and the three celestial bodies form a straight line: Earth - Moon - Sun.

This project helps us determine the distance between one constellation and another, and how far away they are from us. We used algebra to find out the aproximate distances and measurments. Constellations were used so that people could tell time. They'd map out the sky and tell time.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are alignedexactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle.

Since the dawn of recorded civilization, stars played a key role in religion and proved vital to navigation. Astronomy, the study of the heavens, may be the most ancient of the sciences.
