The neurologist's average salary in the United States is 187,400 dollars a year! They make up to 450,000 dollars annually if they work in the private sector.

Neurologists specialize in treating diseases and disorders of the nervous system. Aside from brain disorders, neurologists can treat maladies of the spinal cord, nerves, and muscles that interfere with nerve function. They also treat " the involuntary nervous system that controls the heart, lungs and other organs. They treat headaches, stroke, dementia, seizures, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, sleep disorders and neuromuscular diseases."

The expected job growth for a neurologist over the next 20 years is average; a 20-28 percent increase at the national level. However, the demand for neurologists at the international level is increasing rapidly (43-51 percent) due to the large number of cases for neurological disorders in developing countries, such as MS, autism, and Downs Syndrome.
