Neurological Physical Therapy

Neurological Physical Therapy

What's next?

After I finish my undergrad in KPE Exercise Science, I want to go on to be a physical therapist. This means I go on to a grad program to get my Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). Once I complete that, I would like to become a board-certified specialist in the field of neurology.

A neurologic physical therapist is a board-certified physical therapist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of people you struggle with movement due to injury to the nervous system or neurological diseases.

What does a neurologic physical therapist do?

Here is a video of a women going through neurological rehabilitation. She suffered a traumatic brain injury from a car accident.

I always knew I wanted to be a physical therapist based on my experience going through physical therapy in high school. My physical therapist really cared about my progress and it was obvious that she loved what she did. Her enthusiasm is what inspired me to pursue a career in physical therapy. I want to become a neurologic physical therapist because my grandfather suffers from a neurological disease called Guillain-Barre Syndrome. I've seen first hand how much his specialized therapy improves his condition and I would love to be able to make that same diference in other people's lives.

Why neurological physical therapy?
