At first Neptune was only the god of water, but then he became the god of the sea when he became associated with the greek god Poseidon. Neptune has a rocky core, then water, and then has liquid hydrogen. The dark spot on Neptune is an anticyclonic storm that measures 13,000 kilometers x 6,600 kilometers across. Neptune radiates 2.61 times as much energy as it receives from the sun.
