[2017] P S (Donovan 16-17): Neo-Plasticism Glog

Neo-Plasticism/ Destijl

What Was Going On In the World?World War I just ended, and Neo Plasticism arose in answer to that world. The aftermath of World War I in Europe was so disruptive and destructive, the straight lines and bright colors that were used in Neo Plasticism brought back order.

Focus on an Artist:Piet Mondrian was born in Amersfoort, Netherlands on March 7, 1872. He died in New York on February 1, 1944. He created his own art style called Neo-Plasticism, which represented the plastic nature of the forms and colors on the canvas. He also moved to New York in the last years of his life and fell in love with the Big Apple!

Focus on ArtworkThe artwork I love the most is Broadway Boogie Woogie. It’s supposed to represent the streets of New York, and if you look at it, you can see the streets and buildings, and even cars!
