Nelson Mandela

In 1961, Mandela orchestrated a three-day national workers' strike. He was arrested for leading the strike the following year, and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Nelson Mandela is an example of an active citizen because he advocated for others. He went through life trying to make peace in the world. Through his civil disobedience he changed South Africa to be anti-apartheid. He helped all people and tried to created a better place for the South Africans to live. In the end Nelson Mandela established a legacy because he found a positive in every situation and showed how a true leader should act, by putting the people first.
