Queen Nefertiti was one of the most mysterious and powerful women in ancient Egypt. She was an Egyptian queen known for her beauty. She ruled alongside her husband, Pharaoh Akhenaten, during the mid 1300s BC. They both established the cult of Aten, the sun god, and promoted Egyptian artwork. Queen Nefertitit's name is Egyptian and means "the beautiful one has come". No one knows for sure who her parents was, but evidence suggests that she came from the town Akhmim, and was the daughter or niece of a powerful man names Ay. Other evidence has suggested that she was born in a foreign country. Nefertiti married Amenhotep III's son. It is believed that they got married when she was 15 years old. They ruled together from 1353 to 1336 BC, and had six daughters together.

Nefertiti was probably the most powerful women to have ever ruled. Her husband displayed her as an equal partner. Despite her great power, Nefertiti disappered 12 years later. The reason is unkown. Some people believed she died, and other people believed she elevated to the status of co-regent and began to dress as a man. Her mummy has not been found.
