Napoleon Bonaparte

Napoleon was born on August 15, 1769. He was born in Ajaccio, Corsica, France. He died on May 5, 1821, on the island of St. Helena. Napoleon was an amazing military leader. He won many wars. When Napoleon became the emperor of France, he created policies, which gave rights to the French and changed the French and possibly the world forever. Napoleon went to the College d' Autun, Military College of Brienne, and a Military Academy in Paris. Napoleon was a military leader, a political leader, and an emperor.


1799- Overthrew the Directory with a Coup d'etat 1804- Creates The Code Napoleon 1806- Creates the Continental System 1810 - Loses the war to Russia 1814 - Forced out of power and exiled to Elba 1815 - Returns to France for 100 days and loses battle of Waterloo 1821 - Sent into exile and dies on St. Helena island

In 1804, Napoleon created The Code Napoleon. It gave equality to all men, trial by jury, religious freedom,feudal rights were ended, and no special rights were given.Napoleon created the education reform which said that people could be educated for government and military jobs for free, they were called lycee.Napoleon created the Concordat which recognized the Catholic Church to make peace. It was made the offical church of France.

Lasting Impact

Napoleon created many policies and laws that still stand today. He wanted equality and religious freedom and many other things that we still have.
