My Cultural Journey
EHS intern
As an EHS intern for Phase 1, I encountered many diverse students including their ethnicity, socioeconomic status, ability, and race.
As an education major, I have spent endless hours tutoring diverse students. I tutor students of various races, ethnicity, and abilities.
We had obvious cultural differences that we often discussed including language, religion, and geographical region. Along with those topics came varying beliefs and values.
I was also an IEP conversation partner for one semester. My partner was from Saudi Arabia. We met once a week to have casual conversations so that he could practice is English-speaking skills.
Tutor
Since I've been at ESU, I have had more experiences with diversity and culture than I realize and definitely more than I would have ever received staying in my small hometown.
