Microscopic Muscle Anatomy
1. Action potential arrives at axon terminal2. Calcium ions enter axon terminal3. Synaptic vesicles fuse to membrane of axon terminal4. Acetylcholine is released into synaptic cleft5. Acetylcholine binds to receptor sites6. Motor end plate is depolarized 7. Action potential is initiated on sacrolemma8. Action potential multiplies along sarcolemma and down T tubules9. Calcium ions released from terminal cisternae10. Muscle cell contracts

Steps involved in Neuromuscular Junction
Sliding Filament Mechanism
1. Action potential arrives at synaptic terminal2. ACh is released from the vesicles when the action potential reaches the synaptic terminal3. ACh diffuses across synaptic cleft and binds to ACh receptors on the sacrolema- Sacrolema becomes permeable to sodium ions- This sudden rush of sodium ion produces an action potential in the sacrolema 4. Action potential spreads over the entire sacrolemma surface- It travels down all of the t-tubules toward terminal cristernae (encircle sacromeres of muscle fiber) 5. ACh breaks down by AChE and then the sequence of events is then repeated by another ATP
