Multiplication Facts and Strategies
Instructional Plans:Students will learn multiplication facts and strategies through a combination of learning cycles and direct instruction. They will use different strategies to solve multiplication problems. Some of the strategies incude: using arrays, equal groups, repeated addition, number lines or skip-counting. Students will be engaged throughout the lesson which will lead to a successful completion of the unit.
Introduction:Through this unit students will develop and understanding about facts and strategies when multiplying by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10. They will use different startegies and will identify multiplication patterns while solving problems. Students will also be introduced to the distributive property of multplication.

Identify patterns when multiplying by 2, 4, 5, 10, 3 & 6
Learn strategies to multiply with 2s, 4s, 5s, 10, 3s, and 6s.
Unit Objectives
Learn the Distributive Property of Multiplication
Understand and use a multiplication table to solve multiplication problems
Use manipulatives when solving multiplication problems
Use arrays, equal groups or number lines to solve multiplication problems
Solve Multiplication Problems with 2s, 4s, 5, 10, 3s & 6s.
Assessments:Pre-Assessment:Students will be pre-assessed on their ability to solve multiplication problems by using arrays.Formative Assessments:Students will be assessed throughout the unit by their participation is class activities, worksheets provided throughout the lessons, multiplication games and quizzes. Post-Assessment Students overall take on the unit will be assessed through a final worksheet.
Teaching Activities
Reflections:Throughout the lessons students learned to multiply using different strategies such skip counting, using arrays, making equal groups, using repeated addition and using a number line.Students struggled creating arrays during the pre-assessment, but throughout the lessons learned to effectively use them, Students’ interests are very important when planning lessons, if the students aren’t interested and engaged in the lesson they stop paying attention and this leads to an unsuccessful lesson. This teaching experience made me understand the importance of including management strategies and students’ interests into lesson plans.
Conclusion:I learned a lot throughout the process of planning, impplementing and reflecting on this unit and I believe that it has been a great preparation for teaching mathematics in elementary schools. Students learned different multiplication facts and strategies that they can use throughout their academic journey.
