Moving Towards Independence

The Congress chose Jefferson to create a draft of the Declaration of Independence. He was inspired by John Locke's ideas of freedom. The ideas were about how people were born with natural rights to life, liberty, andproperty. In the draft it stated in the 1st section that people that wish to form a new colonie must habe a good reason. The 2nd section stated the rights of the colonist. Then the 3rd sectoins told about all their complaints about Britian. Then the last section proclaimed that a new nation was formed.

George Walton- He was the youngest signer out of all the delagate signers. He moved to Savanah to learn about law.Lyman Hall- He had moved to Georgia as a medic man, but later his house was torched down so he fled to the Carolinas.Button Gwinnett- He was a farmer and a merchant in Georgia. One of his suggestions was to take out Florida.

Jeffersons Draft

The first contenential congress decided to make a second one. It was made on May 10 1775. Some delagates were not ready to break away from England. There decisions were to govern themselves, have own economy, have own post office, and have a continential army.
