[2013] lauren bui: Mother Teresa

Agnes was born on August 26, 1910 in Skopje, Macedonia, she was then baptized the day after she was born. Her family was a devoted Catholic Family, her mom Nikola Bojaxhiu being deeply involved in a local church. In 1919, when Agnes was only 8 years old her father, Dranafile Bojaxhiu suddenly became severly ill and died. She attended a primary school ran by the religious community, and then in middle school/high school she went to a state ran school. As a young girl, she sang in the local choir and often sang solos. At the age of 12 Agnes felt her first calling to a religious life. Six years later at the age of 18 she decided to become a nun and set off to Ireland to Join the Loreto Sisters of Dublin. It was then she took the name Sister Mary Teresa after Saint Therese of Lisieux.
