Quotes

Biography

Moses was born in Egypt on the 7th of Adar of the year 2368 from creation (1393 BCE), at a time when the Israelites were slaves to the rulers of the land and subject to many harsh decrees. When he was three months old, Moses was hidden in a basket set afloat in the Nile to escape Pharaoh's decree that all male Hebrew children be drowned; he was retrieved from the river by Pharaoh's daughter, Batyah, who raised him in the palace. At age 20, Moses fled Egypt after killing an Egyptian he saw beating a Jew and made his way to Midian, where he married Zipporah, the daughter of Jethro, and fathered two sons, Gershom and Eliezer. When he was 80 years old, Moses was shepherding his father-in-law's sheep when G-d revealed himself to him in a burning bush at Mount Horeb (Sinai) and instructed him to liberate the Children of Israel. Moses took the Israelites out of Egypt, performed numerous miracles for them (the ten plagues in Egypt, the splitting of the sea, extracting water from a rock, bringing down the manna, and numerous others), received the Torah from G-d and taught it to the people, built the Mishkan (Divine dwelling) in the desert, and led the Children of Israel for 40 years as they journeyed through the wilderness.

"then teach them the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they are to walk and the work they are to do." (Exodus 18:20)

"O LORD, why does Your anger burn against Your people whom You have brought out from the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?" (Exodus 32:11)

"We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and you; intercede with the LORD, that He may remove the serpents from us." (Number 21:7)

Moses Recieves The Ten Commandments

Parting the Sea

Moses Meets God

God wrote the ten commandments on stones for Moses to deliver to the Israelites as a set of rules to follow and this gives us faith that if we follow these rules we will be able to get into the kingdom of heaven

God gave Moses the power to part the Red Sea to avoid Pharaoh army's and he had changed his mind and was attacking Israel after all of his slaves left. This allowed the israelities to pass through safely. This gives us faith that God will protect us from harm and save us from evil.

While walking in the desert one day Moses saw a burning bush which he then realized it was God speaking to him. God told Moses to bring his people out of slavery in Egypt and bring them to the promised land. This events allowed Catholics to have faith in God as he had saved them from slavery in Egypt.

Ten Commandments

After God brought the Israel slaves out of Egypt they went to a desert while Moses went on to Mount Sinai for 40 days and 40 nights. Then God gave Moses two stone tablets that contained the ten commandments which are rules to follow in an express purpose to share with the Israelities. The purpose of the commandments is God displaying rules you cannot break and if you do you will move away from him. For example the commandment "you shall not steal" is a commandment and if you break it it's a sin. If you follow the commandents and not break them it will move you closer to god because that's what God aspects from us.
