The moon has many different hases. There is a New Moon, a Waxing Crescent, the First Quarter, a Waxing Gibbous, a Full Moon, a Waning Gibbous, the Third Quarter and a Waning Crecsent
The leading theory of the moon's origin is that a Mars-sized body collided with Earth approximately 4.5 billion years ago, and the resulting debris from both Earth and the impactor accumulated to form our natural satellite.
The Moons orbit is a circle. It takes the Moon 27.3 days to orbit around the Earth.
A New Moon is when the moon is in the middle of the Earth and the Sun. A Full Moon is when the Moon is behind the Earth.
