Sheepheads start out as females, and most change to males!
On Thursday, Febuary 26th, I went on a field trip with my classmates to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. First, we visited the Sting Ray Touch Tank. The rays felt so weird! They felt like ooey, gooey slime (it was a little disgusting). We also went to the Tentacles exhibit, which featured octopi and squid. We also saw amazing, glow-in-the-dark jellyfish. I even saw an Open Sea tank with a hammerhead shark! My favorite parts of the trip was when we went to the Sting Ray Touch Tank and when we saw the hammerhead shark! One swam right up to us by the glass (it was pretty scary), and the rays felt so weird! This field trip was my favorite one of the year!
The mouth, gills, and nostrils of a ray are on their tummy!!!
Octopi can lose an arm and are able to grow a new one.
Some jellyfish are as long as a whale!
Starfish extend their tummies out to get food to eat.
