Meet the Author



Caitlin’s world is turned upside down when a tragedy causes the death of her brother along with two others. This event is made worse for Caitlin who has Asperger’s Syndrome and only understands things in black and white. She struggles to make meaning out of the situation while dealing with her emotions and those of her father. One day she comes across the word “closure” and realizes that is what she needs in order to move on.

Caitlin A young girl diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Caitlin struggles to find understanding and closure in the aftermath of her brother’s murder.

Devon Caitlin’s older bother and best friend who is killed in a tragic event. He gives Catlin the nickname Scout after one of the characters in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mocking Bird.

DadCaitlin’s widower father who battles with hurt and pain. Dad struggles to cope with the death of Devon and is emotionally unable to support Caitlin.

“I look up CLOsure and it says: the state of experiencing an emotional conclusion to a difficult life event such as the death of loved one.” In order for Caitlin, her father and the town to move on, they must make amends with the situation. They need to find peace in the midst of the pain so that they can pick up the pieces of their lives and re-build.
