MLK Speech on Vietnam War 1967
Point from King's Speech"'And as I ponder the madness of Vietnam and search within myself for ways to understand and respond in compassion, my mind goes constantly to the people of that peninsula. I speak now not of the soldiers of each side, not of the ideologies of the Liberation Front, not of the junta in Saigon, but simply of the people who have been living under the curse of war for almost three continuous decades now. I think of them, too, because it is clear to me that there will be no meaningful solution there until some attempt is made to know them and hear their broken cries.'"- "Speech On the Vietnam War, 1967"Speech by Martin Luther King, Jr.Line 114 - 122
Similar Point in today's worldIn the quote from his speech, King believes that the voices of the Vietnamese people is what is important to the creation of a solution. The soldiers and junta may well have all the desire to continue engaging the U.S. in heavy combat. But the real focus should be given to the people dwelling amongst their uninhabitable homes, who have had no say in the war issue, and who have never had a say to begin with. This situation is quite similar to that of the Muslim people that live in the United States today.Under pressure of the hatred of the Islamic State, they are unable to separate themselves from the Non-Muslim enemy that the United States is waging war against.
