Miyamoto Musashi Glog

Miyamoto Musashi was born to a samurai family. His father was a well respected samurai in his own right. He was said to have rarely bathed or change his clothes as well as sufffering from a somewhat disfiguring skin condition. His name is thought to be taken from a warrior monk named Mosashibo Benkei. He studied at the Yoshioka-ryu dojo which is also where he defeated single-handedly durinng his later years. The Yoshioka School gave up teach swordsmanship after the fought against the Army of the West which is also when Musashi was fighting on the side of Toyotomi.

Legend says that he has fought in 60 battles in which he lost none. He had claimed to have defeated his first opponet at age of 13. He was noted of having the skill of handeling two swords at once. In 1640, Musashi accepted service with the Hosokawa clan. Three years later, in Higo Province, he began to work on his book, Gorin no Sho (The Book of Five Rings). He finished this infuential work on swordsmanship in May 1645 which is the same year he died.

Lasting Impact

He is known to be one of the greatest swordsman. He invented the Niten-Ichi Ryu sword style, which basically translate to "One sword is good, two swords is better". He is also known to have fought in sixty battles, but was never defeated in one.
