I think that the historical ficton book Mirror Mirror on the Wall: Dairy of Bess Brennan is a 4 star because the content is really realistic. It helps kids understand that you should be thankful for what you have because no matter how hard your life is, someone else's is worse. The book teaches many valuable lessons, such as, all it takes is a little imagination to create an amazing picture. Another would be, practice makes progress because Bess has to learn Braille and that's a challenge. The reason it's not a five star is because it oesen't really have a MAIN conflict. It is a dairy, and that means it has a lot of small conflicts. This is enjoyable, but makes it hard to pick out one main event.
