-works on "reality principle:"strives to achieve id's desires realistically- found in conscious & unconscious mind-like a censor or airport screener: searches for potentially dangerous ideas and takes them out/reshapes them so others/self is not negatively affected

SUPEREGO

-works on "society's principles:" strives to be the ideal human being/citizen-found in both conscious & unconscious mind-made up of values of parents, peers. society- How to Remember: Superego = Superhero!---> it tries to be the best, epitome of good, etc.
