MINERALS
-A mineral is a compound made of different elements that formed due to geological processes. -There are many different types of minerals. -Minerals are classified by their luster, color, hardness, streak, crystal texture, and metallic texture.
-Luster -The ability for a mineral to shine light from its surface. -Dull minerals most likey cannot shine light, while shiny minerals can. -Most minerals have a luster
-Streak -A minerals streak is the color of the mark it leaves behind when you rub it on a plate. -Hardness -Hardness ranges from 1-10 using the Mohs scale. (Penny 3.5, Fingernail 2.5, Flouride 4).
-Crystal -If a mineral appears to have a crystal like appearance, it would also be classified as a crystal. -Metallic Minerals can also be classifed as metallic if they have a metallic like luster.
